Grounded in the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and the State Department’s American Reaches Out Standards (AERO), the American curriculum offers students a comprehensive foundation across a broad range of subjects from grades six through twelve, approached from a global perspective. Encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving skills, the program allows students to select elective courses beyond core subjects like mathematics, English, and science.

Additionally, students can participate in a variety of service organizations and co-curricular activities, such as student government, local community action projects, and an advisory program. These opportunities provide personal, social, and academic support, fostering holistic development and empowering students to grow into knowledgeable, responsible, and internationally minded citizens.

Graduates of the American pathway are well-prepared to pursue higher education at colleges and universities worldwide. While it is referred to as our “American high school program,” the curriculum is adapted to reflect the needs of a globally minded, non-American student body by integrating cultural diversity and fostering skills such as adaptability, collaboration, and cross-cultural communication. This tailored approach ensures students are equipped to thrive in both Albanian and international contexts. Furthermore, students often supplement their studies by taking the **Albanian national education exam—the Matura—**to ensure recognition by universities locally and abroad.

Our American middle and high school program aligns with the U.S. educational system while incorporating global perspectives to meet the diverse needs of an international student body.

Middle School (Grades 6–8)

Middle school focuses on building foundational knowledge in core subjects such as English, mathematics, science, and social studies, with an emphasis on critical thinking and problem-solving. Elective courses, including art, music, foreign languages, and technology, allow students to explore their personal interests. The curriculum is further enriched with activities like sports, student government, and extracurricular clubs, which promote holistic development. Advisory periods or homeroom sessions provide students with academic and emotional support during this crucial phase of education.

High School (Grades 9–12)

High school prepares students for college and future careers through a mix of mandatory and elective courses. Core subjects are taught at increasing levels of rigor, and students earn credits for each completed course, with a specified number of credits required for graduation. Beyond academics, students participate in extracurricular activities and community service projects, integral components of the American high school experience that enhance university applications.

Although known as the American High School Program, the curriculum is designed to address the needs of a globally minded student body by incorporating cultural diversity and fostering essential skills such as adaptability, collaboration, and cross-cultural communication. This ensures students are prepared to excel in both Albanian and international contexts. For non-Albanian, non-U.S. citizens, we can provide personalised guidance to help determine the best pathway to universities in Albania and worldwide.
